Pregnancy, Birth + Postpartum Services 

As a midwife and full-spectrum birthworker, Tessa meets with individuals and families during their pregnancy to support them in whatever ways they need. Tessa provides gender-affirming, non-judgmental care with a focus on supporting the embodiment, empowerment, and autonomy of each client. Tessa can recommend herbs and nutrition, tools and practices for self-care, and provide fertility and birth education and preparation, conception care, and pregnancy and birth support.

  • Prenatal Care

    The heart of your prenatal care is about building a trusting and honest relationship. We offer you hour-long prenatal appointments to discuss your pregnancy, monitor you and your baby’s health and well-being, as well as spend time getting to know you and your family.

    We offer evidence-based information on all testing, options, and exams during your pregnancy so that you can make the best choice for you and your baby. We are committed to informed consent and embodied consent; we know that you are the expert in your body, family, and needs, and in honoring that, we share decision-making and responsibility with you. By the time you have your baby, we hope to have built a strong relationship of trust and comfort, so we can best support you in your birth and transition into parenthood.

    Prenatal care includes lab testing, referrals for ultrasounds, pregnancy assessments, vital signs, and careful monitoring.

    Tessa currently prenatal accompaniment in Philadelphia, and virtually. This adjunctive prenatal care is for those who want individualized support, evidence-based informed consent conversations, and emotional support, but are delivering in a hospital.

  • Postpartum Care

    I love the sweetness of postpartum home visits. There is nothing like midwifery care in the postpartum period to support the massive transition into parenthood, and the adjustment into caring for a baby outside your body. During your postpartum visits, we monitor the overall health of you and your baby, offer support and education for lactation/infant feeding, support your healing, and care for your baby. We are happily available to you by phone throughout your postpartum period to answer questions and address concerns regarding you or your baby.

    Postpartum visits include:

    Monitoring you and your baby’s vital signs and baby’s weight and family bonding

    Support and education around breast/chest feeding, including troubleshooting issues, monitoring frequency and feeding patterns, baby’s output, and referral to lactation consultants as needed

    Support your physical and emotional well-being during this time of transition

    Offer Critical Congenital Heart Defect (CCHD) screening, Hearing Screening, and Newborn Metabolic Screening

    Opportunities to process debrief, and integrate your birth experience

Payment + Fees

Prenatal Care

Comprehensive Prenatal Package:

Hour-long visits with medical history, lab work, pregnancy assessments + fetal heart tones

Every 4 weeks until 28 weeks gestation, every other week from 28-36 weeks gestation, and weekly visits from 36 weeks until birth. Additional appointments as needed

Sliding scale: $1600 - $2000

Midwifery Accompaniment:

Hour-long appointments (in-person or virtually) with pregnancy assessments, fetal heart times, evidence-based information, support with decision making, birth planning, and more. 6 prenatal appointments, 2 per trimester, and as needed, including on-call text and phone availability.

Sliding scale: $800 - 1600, $150 for as-needed appointments

Postpartum Care

Comprehensive Postpartum Package:

Home visits on day 3, day 7, week 2, week 6, and additional visits as needed.

Sliding Scale: $800 - $1600, $150 for each additional appointment

Prenatal + Postpartum Package:

Midwifery care before and after your birth, including 6 prenatal visits and 4 postpartum visits, and on-call phone support during your labor and birth.

Sliding Scale: $3000 - $5000
